Fevered Thoughts: Deadwood Edition

Recently, I picked up “Deadwood: The Complete Series” on Blu-ray. It’s a fantastic show that died way too soon. Anyone that has seen “Deadwood” knows it’s pretty famous (or infamous) for it’s usage and style of language, both regular and profane. Personally, that’s one of the things I love about the show … that very profane and emotive dialogue. So weighty and fun.

This past week I have been dealing with being ill. I started felling bad Monday night and was in full on fever mode by the end of the day on Tuesday. Fortunately, the fever passed in about 24 hours and now I just have a pesky cough and nuclear green snot running out of my nose.

So, how do “Deadwood: The Complete Series” and “Sick with Fever” go together? I’ll tell you how.

Tuesday night, I was laying in bed trying the get some rest but that damn fever wouldn’t quite let me drift off. I was in that state of being on the verge of sleep and a crazy thought came to me. How cool would it be to spend a week (at the very least) talking and emoting in everyday interactions like the characters on “Deadwood?” Complete with language, of course. It could make for fun and interesting situations. Like when the cashier at McDonald’s pisses you off or your annoyed by the long line at the Post Office. Also fun would be business related discussions with the boss or talks with friends on just about any subject.

At the very least, I think “hooplehead” is going to make it into my everyday conversation … followed quickly by “cocksucker.” Yeah!
