MonsterFest ’09

The trip to the wilds of north Florida to visit Dr. Phibes and Co. for the annual MonsterFest was fan-freakin’-tastic. We ate lots (including bison!), drank lots, went bowling, went to the zoo, and watched 14 horror movies over the four days.

Movies we watched:
“Sleepaway Camp”
“The Howling”
“Tarantula”
“Drag Me to Hell”
“Candyman”
“Hell of the Living Dead”
“The Haunting” (1963)
“The Abominable Dr. Phibes”
“Martyrs”
“Inside”
“Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb”
“The House That Dripped Blood”
“Trick ‘r Treat”
“The Legend of Hell House”

Step inside to see some photos …

Bowling fun!

Our pact not to laugh at each other didn’t last long.

Bowling Shoes and Bowling Carpet!

Zounds! Calvin is old enough to drive.

We went to the Jacksonville Zoo!

The Green Mambas were quite spectacular.

Spooooooooooooooky!

Who knew walking to Asia would be so easy.

Fountain Shadows …

For a little extra cash we got to pet the stingrays. It was pretty sweet … even if I was too much of a weenie to attempt feeding them.

  1. You know, Candyman was about graduate students working on a dissertation in the same department at the same university where I earned my PhD. It came out a couple of years before I started, and we all felt a special kinship to that movie. Don’t screw with us!

  2. Mom says:

When did Dr. Phibes get so grey?? He’s starting to look – gasp!! – OLD!!! Oh, I guess we’re ALL getting old, aren’t we? When’s the 20th reunion of the Sinful Seven???

    Great pix, as usual…………

  3. hey chas. great lineup of flix. why don’t you come up to canada sometime and we’ll create a canuxploitation festival?!

  4. Dr. Anton Phibes says:

My God, I am getting old! That grey hair, the blank stare, and the flared nostrils….. wait that’s the damn gorilla I’m looking at. Jeez, now my eyesight is going.
