Weekend:
Ah, yes. Back at work to get some rest. The weekend was busy and all that jazz. Did the show. Drank some punch. Cleaned the home office (some). Got all uppity. Got all depressed. Watched some movies. Worked on some freelance stuff. Finally bought “We Are Glitter.” Spent all of yesterday “out” and it was really, really nice.
Some Movies:
Finally got to see the movie version of “Closer” this past weekend. I directed the play a couple of years ago at a friend’s theater space in Asheville. I really like the show ’cause it’s a dark and intense look at the romantic trials of some fundamentally damaged people. But … the movie! I must say that I really disliked it. The intimacy of the piece gets totally lost in all “bigness” of it being on film. The character that dies in the play walks off into the sunset at the end of the movie. AND … most tragically … Julie Roberts (that hack of an actress) is in it. I say, “Skip it!”
“Orgazmo” … what a strange little movie. Considering the film is about straight porn there was hardly any female T&A and a lot of naked male asses and dildos flying around everywhere … which made the movie kinda gay. Had it’s moments of fun … but they were a little too spaced out.
Coming Soon:
The River District Artist’s Studio Stroll is this coming weekend in Asheville. So, if you like running around and looking at lots of art … get there … ’cause it’s cool.
In Other News:
I have had waaaaaaaaaay too many donuts this morning. Mmmmm … chocolate-covered and cream-filled! Yea!
Yes, they “changed” Alice’s fate. But did they? Look at the end again as it fades out on her crossing the street. The sign behind her is flashing don’t walk. And if I recall, some random guy behind her is turning back as if to look at something as it fades.
A cheat, sure. But one can read into it that they preserved the ending but only for those of us who know what is supposed to happen.
Losing the Anna Alice scene was a mistake I thought.
Yeah. The missing Anna/Alice scene did hurt the movie. I would have never noticed the “Don’t Walk” sign as that shot is in the middle of Times Square … there’s just too much going on to pick up on something that subtle. Our show rocked waaaaaay more than the movie did. (Toot Horn)
