Side Effects

Prednisone may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
– headache
– dizziness
– difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
– inappropriate happiness
– extreme changes in mood
– changes in personality
– bulging eyes
– acne
– thin, fragile skin
– red or purple blotches or lines under the skin
– slowed healing of cuts and bruises
– increased hair growth
– changes in the way fat is spread around the body
– extreme tiredness
– weak muscles
– irregular or absent menstrual periods
– decreased sexual desire
– heartburn
– increased sweating

Nice to know that it’s probably the prednisone that I am one for the tonsillitus that’s causing me to be tired, irrational and somewhat depressed. “Say what?” you might ask. Yeah. I tend to be tired, irrational and somewhat depressed anyway … but it just seems to be even more so over the last couple of days. Grrrrrr. Plus, I need someone to explain what “inappropriate happiness” is. That just sounds too weird.

  1. if, for example, you were faced with a raft of polls indicating your state was about to go head-over-heels for George Bush and that made you feel like shakin your tush while humming, “You make me feel like dancin’, gonna dance the night away…”

    *THAT* would be inappropriate happiness.

I would say, you waking up one day and thinking that the world was just a big beautiful place and you were in an all around cheerful mood would be inappropriate happiness.
Thanks for the birthday call and wishes.
