Speaking of mental health … I watched the movie “Session 9” a couple of weeks ago and have been a wee bit Kirkbride building obsessed since then. “Session 9” takes place in the Danver’s State Insane Asylum. There is something really beautiful and disturbing about the photographs taken in these places. How can spirits not haunt the grounds and abandoned buildings?
Quite coincidently, I had a great aunt (my father’s mother’s sister) who was in the Hudson River State Hospital for many years.
There is a similar set of buildings back in my hometown, Traverse City- very gothic and creepy looking.
