Yep. I’m back … and sorta alive. So, here’s a quickie (and not totally complete) rundown of my time in The Big Apple.
Thursday:
Arrived at BJ‘s just fine. The train to Penn Station to the Subway is a great (and cheap) way to get into the city. We hung out, had dinner and headed out. First stop was The Eagle with all the hot leather men. Mmmm. We then hit The Cock right before it closed. I got felt up by some cute but totally incoherent fella (yeah, he was that drunk or high or something) at 4:00 a.m. Ah, the city!
Friday:
BJ and I kicked around. We went to China Town, SoHo (and the Apple Store). Later we met up with the upstairs neighbor (Scott), had dinner and went to the big gay blogger metting. My-oh-my was it crazy. I met lots of hot fellas and just generally hung back and watched all the craziness. As the alcohol flowed those fellas were like kids in a candy store. Later Scott, BJ and I went back to The Eagle. Fun!
Saturday:
Had brunch with Scott and headed uptown. Got to see “The Pillowman” and revitalized my hatred of the whole Times Square craziness. BJ and I had a low key evening at his place trying to recover from the Friday night craziness.
Sunday:
Kicked around while BJ was at work. When Scott returned from Long Island, we hung at his place, eating in, watching television. Later BJ and I hit Big Lug. While getting donuts at 3:00 a.m. we saw (well, more like “heard”) a car crash right in front of the donut shop. So we hung around until the police and ambulance showed up. Then we had our donuts. Mmmmm.
Monday:
Shocker. BJ and I kicked around the neighborhood. Post office. Food. Tompkins Square Park. Scott and I had dinner and hung out. After BJ got off from work, he and I went to some bar (danged if’n I can remember the name) and had drinks.
Tuesday:
Just enough time to rouse The Man from sleep to say “goodbye” and beat it to the airport. I knew I was back in the South when I was greeted by the news of a local church kicking out members for their Democratic leanings.
Now time to get back into the groove of things here. Last night I was in full post-trip-let-down mode. Most of that was gone this morning … but I am gonna be missing (and be depressed) over some other things for a little while. New Order’s album “Waiting For The Sirens’ Call” is gonna make me happy and sad for a while.
You can see some more photos.
